The Diary of our Gardening Endeavours

Welcome to the new blog about life in our Italian Vegetable Garden, or 'Orto' as they are known here. Having spent the last three years on a huge learning curve, we are still relatively 'green' (pardon the pun) when it comes to gardening. I'm hoping that this blog will provide a written and pictorial record of the ups and downs and at the same time a little bit of fun in the making. This delightful painting, which also forms the background of the blog was painted by my sister-in-law, Liz. It captures our tiny casa so perfectly.

There is very little going on in the garden at the moment, but spring is on its way so we are told. Difficult to believe when we woke this morning to a snowy tipped view, with a truckload more on its way!

To start us off, this is a picture of the mimosa (National symbol of International Womens Day - an important date for us as two of our granddaughters celebrate their birthdays on this date, 8 March). This was taken about two weeks ago, but I have seen images of a mimosa in full bloom up in the South of Italy around Christmas time.
